Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Oasis Young Plants Ltd. supports various projects under Corporate Social Responsibility. On our farm there is a school for children aged 2 to 6 years of our employees. It is difficult to find babysitters for small children and having a daycare centre on the farm gives our employees more space to work. About 70% of our workers are women, as they are mainly the caretakers of their young children, they profit from the school, but also some male workers bring their children to the daycare centre.

Secondary working conditions are very important to us, we serve a healthy hot meal for lunch every day free of charge for all our staff and the children of the daycare centre. They also get eggs from our own chickens every week. We have a ‘social fund’ in which both employees and we as a company donate. In case of illness or death of family members, our employees receive a donation or a loan to cover expenses. In addition, Oasis Young Plants Ltd. has a contact with a general practitioner that our staff can visit, with the company covering most of the costs.

Apart from secondary working conditions on the farm, Oasis Young Plants Ltd. invests in various projects in the area. For instance, several schools in the proximity of our farm have been supported by purchasing materials for the construction of classrooms, toilets, water storage, sports fields etc. In addition, we help improve roads in the area and litter is cleared along the main road.

In collaboration with ‘The Kilimanjaro Project’, trees have been planted along the river near our company. The deforestation in the region around Mount Kilimanjaro is a big problem, in addition, as a company we will have to contribute to CO² reduction.

At the farm we sometimes receive school classes with children who want to learn about different ways to propagate plants. Older students visit us regularly to learn about our company from a business perspective.
